Mobility has a long tradition in the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region, but it also has a bright future.
As early as 1835, the ‘Adler’ – Germany’s first railway – ran between Nuremberg and Fürth. Today, the mobility and automotive sectors are among the most important economic sectors in the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region. Around 100,000 people work here for suppliers to the automotive industry.
However, the mobility of tomorrow will not simply be a further development of today’s systems. E-mobility, digitalisation and sustainability are transforming the way we get around and presenting businesses, research and society with new challenges. At the same time, economic and geopolitical uncertainties are creating additional pressure for change.
The Nuremberg Metropolitan Region is actively shaping this transformation. With innovative technologies, strong companies, universities and research institutions, solutions for the mobility of the future are being developed here – from the region, for the region and beyond. Whether on the road, in the air or on the water: technologies for cars, lorries, aeroplanes, trains and ships are being developed here.
