Future with Robotics in the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region
Robotics is one of the most important technological trends of our time. Research into this important field is also being carried out in the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region, where it is being trialled and tested in real-world laboratories.

Fraunhofer IIS and Nuremberg Airport tested robotic assistants to assist passengers
In May, researchers from Fraunhofer IIS conducted a study at Nuremberg Airport to assess travellers’ acceptance of an AI robot and its technical capabilities. The robot can answer various questions, such as those relating to parking facilities or restaurants at the airport. A locally installed large language model ensures that the robot responds quickly and that data security is maintained to the highest standard.
RoboCup 2027
The world’s largest robotics competition is coming to the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region
At the RoboCup, teams from all over the world compete against each other with their robots. Representing the Nuremberg metropolitan region is Team #AutonOhm from the Georg Simon Ohm University of Applied Sciences in Nuremberg, led by Prof. Dr Stefan May.
